How to Go Open: Our New Practical Guidebook for Horizon Europe Projects
How to Go Open: Our New Practical Guidebook for Horizon Europe Projects
We’re excited to announce that How to Go Open: A Practical Guidebook for Horizon Europe Cluster 5 Projects is now available on the SSH CENTRE website. The guidebook brings together everything we’ve learned about making Open Science and Open Education work in real research settings — not as abstract principles, but as everyday practices that strengthen collaboration, transparency and impact. It is available in English, Spanish, Italian, Czech, German, Hungarian and Slovenian, making it accessible to teams across Europe.
From Webinar to Online Course to Guidebook
The guidebook builds directly on our Open Social Science webinar, where over 30 researchers and stakeholders explored how openness can make SSH research more accessible, trusted and useful. The insights from that session became the foundation for our Open Social Science online course, which offers five hands‑on modules for applying Open Science in climate, energy and mobility projects.
These two resources paved the way for the new guidebook — a digital, interactive companion designed to help teams move from “we should do Open Science” to “we know exactly how to do it.”
A Practical Tool for Cluster 5 Projects
How to Go Open is written for researchers, coordinators, proposal writers and innovation leads working in Horizon Europe Cluster 5. It explains where Open Science fits in proposals, how to embed it in work packages, and how to use it strategically to strengthen Excellence, Impact and Implementation. The guidebook includes:
- Step‑by‑step workflows
- Recommendations for incorporating Open Science into proposals
- Examples from SSH CENTRE’s own work related to Open Science
- Infographics, videos and quotes from experts
- Links to additional tools and resources
Everything is designed to help you make openness actionable from day one and to turn it into a competitive advantage.
