Governance RECOMMENDATIONS from innovative
interdisciplinary collaborations launch event

The SSH CENTRE is hosting a launch event to celebrate the publication of our book collection on interdisciplinary policy recommendations for EU Climate, Energy and Mobility policy.

In addition to each of the books being briefly introduced by the lead editors, the core of the launch event will focus on reflections from European Commission policymakers themselves. We are delighted to have a panel with representation from at least three Directorate-Generals (DGs): Elena Dufour (DG Research & Innovation), Jesús Maria Alquézar Sabadie (DG Environment), and Bruno Mola (DG Climate).

The book launch and panel event is taking place on Tuesday 22nd October, 4:30 – 6pm (CET). It will be a hybrid event – hosted both online and in-person in Granada, Spain.

The event is free to attend and open to all, but prior registration is needed to receive the relevant details.

Structure of the book launch event

  • Introduction to the SSH CENTRE project and the book project.
  • Summary presentation on each of the 3 books from the Editors.
  • Panel discussion with Elena Dufour (DG RTD), Jesús Maria Alquézar Sabadie (DG ENV), and Bruno Mola (DG CLIMA), focusing on the policy recommendations presented in the books. Chaired by Chris Foulds.

About the book collection

The three books have involved 154 researchers from across 23 European countries, as well as 4 Forewords and 12 Afterwords written by additional researchers, policymakers, business representatives and citizen voices.

Each of the books set out ~10 key policy recommendations for the relevant climate, energy, and mobility strategies of the EU Green Deal. Each chapter focuses on a specific recommendation. These recommendations are the product of interdisciplinary activities undertaken by teams of both Social Sciences and Humanities scholars as well as Natural and Technical Scientists. The books showcase the opportunities, benefits, and need for collaboration across disciplines to address societal challenges.
